DLDP: DYNAMO Legacy Data Products

Summary

The DYNAMO (Dynamics of the Madden-Julian Oscillation) Legacy Data Products were developed to facilitate the future applications of the DYNAMO data sets, especially by users who are not experts in field instrumentation and data collection. The DLDP includes bundled data sets from different instruments and platforms and locations with products that could be derived from observations only by field observation experts. The strategy was to create these products with one-stop access at a single archiving center, with a standard format (NetCDF), and self-explanatory metafiles. The focus was on the development of combined air-sea time series consisting of three components: (a) Surface Properties, (b) Atmospheric Profiles, and (C) Ocean Profiles. Additionally, a set of standardized radar-based products (developed from the NCAR/EOL SPolKa, Texas A&M SMART-R, R/V Mirai, and R/V Revelle radars), as well as a set of aircraft-based products (developed from the NOAA P-3 and CNES SAFIRE Falcon 20 aircraft).
