Upslope: Climatology of Upslope Stratocumulus

Summary

For the Climatology of Upslope Stratocumulus (Upslope) experiment, Drs. Helmut Weickmann and Herbert Riehl utilized a QueenAir, B-80 aircraft to study the feasibility of seeding high plains upslope stratocumulus cloud systems for precipitation enhancement. Although an earlier analysis of radiosonde data indicated that a number of suitable upslope patterns occurred during each winter, this particular research did not judge the potential of these systems for seeding as Upslope investigated.
