Single Particle Soot Photometer (SP2)
Summary
The Single Particle Soot Photometer (SP2) is an instrument that directly measures the refractory black carbon (rBC) content in individual accumulation-mode aerosol particles and can identify iron-oxide-like aerosol composition and concentration (here refered to as light absorbing metallic (LAM) aerosol). For the first HIPPO circuit (HIPPO-1), the dataset contains only SP2 rBC data measured aboard the NSF/NCAR GV . The data are in NASA AMES format.
