PLOWS: WSR-88D Radial Velocity Imagery

Summary

This data set contains radial velocity imagery from the WSR-88D radars located in the PLOWS domain. During the PLOWS 2008-2009 period the radars included are La Crosse WI (ARX), Milwaukee WI (MKX), Davenport IA (DVN), Lincoln IL (ILX), Chicago IL (LOT), Indianapolis IN (IND), Webster IN (IWX), Evansville, IN (VWX), and St. Louis MO (LSX). These images were produced by the College of DuPage. For the PLOWS 2009-2010 period the radars included those above as well as others depending on where operations were occurring. The other radars are available at various times are Birmingham AL (BMX), Columbia SC (CAE), Cleveland OH (CLE), Jackson MS (DGX), Denver CO (FTG), Dallas/Ft. Worth TX (FWS), Goodland KS (GLD), Green Bay WI (GRB), Columbus AFB MS (GWX), Ft. Campbell KY (HPX), Hytop AL (HTX), Wilmington OH (ILN), Jackson KY (JKL), North Platte NE (LNX), Louisville KY (LVX), Marquette MI (MQT), Knoxville TN (MRX), Memphis TN (NQA), Omaha NE (OAX), Nashville TN (OHX), Paducah KY (PAH), Ft Polk LA (POE), Shreveport LA (SHV), Ft Smith AR (SRX), Oklahoma City OK (TLX), Topeka KS (TWX), and Hastings ME (UEX). These imagery were produced by NCAR/EOL. During periods when the NCAR C-130 was flying (and satcom was available) the flight track is included in the imagery. See the PLOWS 2009-2010 Field Catalog to see when imagery for particular sites are available. This data set contains imagery from the two PLOWS field phases, 11 February to 30 March 2009 and 20 October 2009 to 10 March 2010. No imagery are available for the period between the field phases.
