Holographic Detector for Clouds (HOLODEC 2) [EOL/RAF]

Project:

Summary

This dataset contains measurements of cloud particle size distributions collected during the ADELE/SPRITE/HEFT0 using an airborne holographic instrument (HOLODEC 2) mounted on the NSF/NCAR Gulfstream V (N677F). The data are recorded in a raw video stream that is processed using a MATLAB script to a series of lossless 8-bit grayscale .png files with the filenames serving as the time stamps. Each image file is about 11 or 12 MB from the 4872x3248 8-bit pixels or compressed to about 2/3 of the raw. Images are combined into 1-minute log tarfiles. To help analyze the data, movies (800x600, mpeg4) of each image series are also available.
