PIBAL Wind Only Sounding data from PACS-SONET
Summary
This data set contains PIBAL wind only sounding data from the Pan American Climate Study Program - Sounding Network (PACS-SONET) collected from twelve sites (the network was later expanded to seventeen sites) over the region from 30 N to 30 S latitude and 60 to 180 W longitude. It also contains PIBAL soundings collected during the South American Low-Level Jet Experiment (SALLJEX) which had field operations from 15 November 2002 thru 15 February 2003. The PIBAL files include site identifier information, the total wind speed and direction, and the u and v wind components. The soundings cover the period starting 07 Apr 1997 thru 09 Sep 2003. However, not all sites collected data during the entire period (Some sites were only operational during SALLJEX). This data set has undergone no quality control. See the README for more details.
