TOGA COARE Wind Profiler (ISS and others) Data

Project:

Summary

This dataset contains profiles of winds and temperature from six NCAR Integrated Sounding System (ISS) wind profiler sites. Wind data from three additional sites using other types of wind profilers are also included. The six ISS sites are: R/V Shiyan 3; Kapingamarangi; Kavieng; Manus; Nauru; and R/V Kexue 1. The other research profiler sites are: Biak (50 MHz); Christmas Island (50 MHz); and R/V Moana Wave (915 MHz). The data consist of ASCII data files, 1 profile per file. Postscript files containing daily time-series of the profiles are also included. The ASCII data files include altitude, u wind component, v wind component, w wind component, and several engineering parameters. The ISS sites also have virtual temperature and another series of engineering parameters. Please see the "README" file for more details.
