DEEPWAVE: NSF/NCAR GV HIAPER Dropsonde Data

Summary

NCAR/EOL Dropsonde sounding profiles from on the NSF/NCAR Gulfstream-V HAIPER aircraft in the region around New Zealand as part of the DEEPWAVE field project. Dropsondes were released as requested during the field phase. A total of 282 quality-controlled, high vertical resolution (0.25-second wind and 0.5 second pressure/temperature/humidity) soundings are contained in the final DEEPWAVE data set.

  • 1.0 (2015-03-16):

    The EOL Dropsonde data has been converted to the EOL Sounding Composite (ESC) format.

  • 2.0 (2016-12-16):

    This version corrects a temperature dependent dry bias that was present in the Vaisala RD94 dropsonde relative humidity measurements. Both the relative humidity and dew point values have been corrected.
