WINTRE-MIX: NRC Convair 580 Scattering and Optical Array Probe Microphysics Data

Summary

NRC 580 aircraft imaging and scattering microphysics data collected for the WINTRE-MIX time period and area of interest are included in this dataset. Cloud Droplet Probe (CDP) measures cloud droplet size distribution from 2 to 50 microns. This is a forward-scattering instrument that accepts and sizes only particle that pass through a region of the laser beam with uniform power. The Optical Array Probes (OAPs) use a photodiode array illuminated by a laser as the method of imaging cloud hydrometeors.  All data are provided in netCDF4 format. The CDP-3, 2DS, and HVPS3/POP are each stored in their own files.  A complete description of the data format, content and data quality control procedures can be found in the documentation.
