ACE-1: NCEP Medium Range Forecast model output on Isentropic Surfaces

Summary

The U.S. National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) routinely ran the Medium Range Forecast (MRF) model twice daily (00 and 12 UTC) during the ACE-1 period. This dataset is the 3-dimensional model analysis and forecast grids on isentropic surfaces. The initial analysis and forecasts to 48 hours (in 12 hour steps) are available in GRIB format. This output includes pressure, Montgomery Stream Function, virtual potential temperature, u and v wind components, among others.
