SMEX02: Iowa Mesonet Data
Summary
This data set contains hourly resolution surface meteorological data from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet. These data are made available through Iowa State University and include data for locations throughout the state of Iowa from a variety of networks including the Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS), the Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), the Iowa Department of Transporation Roadway Weather Information System (RWIS), the Iowa State University AgClimate Network, the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA/NRCS) Soil Climate Analysis Network (SCAN), the National Weather Service Cooperative Network, Data Collection Platforms (DCPs), and the KCCI-TV8 SchoolNet. This data set covers the period from 1 June to 31 July 2002. The data are in GEMPAK format. NOTE: The precipitation for the AWOS stations within this data set have a known problem. See the readme file for complete information. Correct 1-minute resolution AWOS precipitation data are available as a companion dataset.
