Scripps Hurricane Rita drifter tracks and analyses
Project:
Summary
A link to an analysis of drifter tracks in Hurricane Rita in September 2005. On 21 September 2005, 20 Scripps drifting buoys were deployed by the 53rd WRS squadron ahead of Hurricane Rita in the Gulf of Mexico. All twenty drifters survived the air drop and the passage of the hurricane. There are 12 Minimets and 8 ADOS, reporting air pressure, SST, wind direction and wind speed. The 8 ADOS drifters are equipped with 100m thermistor chains.
