VORTEX-95:
Verification of the Origins of Rotation in Tornadoes Experiment 95
Summary
VORTEX-95 was held in the central and southern Plains of the US during April 1 - June 15, 1995. It was designed to address current research questions relating to tornadogenesis and tornado dynamics. The objectives of VORTEX were stated in terms of testable, refutable hypotheses for which adequate data could be collected. The hypotheses were related to: 1) The role of the environment; 2) Tornadogenesis; 3) Tornado Dynamics; 4) Tornado debris deposition; and 5) Adjunct experiments.
