BLD: Boundary Layer Development

Summary

The Boundary Layer Development (BLD) project, also known as "Haswell", flew the L-188 Electra aircraft past an instrumented tall tower operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Southeastern Colorado near the small city of Haswell, Colorado. The flights were conducted early in the morning to probe the early-morning transition from the nocturnal to the daytime boundary layer.
