CME04: Carbon in the Mountains Experiment 2004

Summary

The Carbon in the Mountains Experiment (CME04) occurred during the Airborne Carbon in the Mountains Experiment (ACME). Field operations during this project took place along the Niwot Ridge of the Colorado Front Range of the Rocky Mountains from June to October, 2004. The goal of both projects was to understand carbon dynamics in mountain forest regions by developing new methods for estimating carbon exchange at local to regional scales. These studies will help define differences between surface exchange of carbon in mountainous and flat landscapes to better understand the significance and contribution of mountain areas to the continental carbon budget.
